POSSESSION
– AN INTERACTIVE PAINTING OF MY CHILDHOOD MEMORY

Possession is an interactive kinetic sculpture. The inspiration is from my childhood memories.

I am looking for myself from my memories, and I think memories are reflections of my self-identification, which has been edited by my self-identification.

I hope my audience could have a conversation with my childhood memories in the physical space, and get the “reflections” from it. In other words, this work will deliver the topic of who I am to the audience. When people get close to Possession, the colored woody blocks will move up and down; when people leave, they will stop the movements. The whole process is like a conversation that you are keeping talking with it. You are asking it, and also being responded to by it.

The woody mechanical system is from the toys which I played with when I was young, and the colors are from my paintings about my childhood. I combined them in an abstract way, both time and space, the past and present.
